Tesco,CEO Philip Clarke told BBC Radio 5 Live that the phone will come pre-installed Tesco services, which could include its streaming service Blinkbox. The announcement comes from the company after success of its Hudl tablets which has sold over half a million units so far. The company also plans to launch the second version of this mid-tier budget tablet late this year.

Clarke said the phone would be aggressively priced, putting it in direct competition with Google’s Nexus 5. The release will mark Tesco as the first UK supermarket to develop and sell its own smartphone. Meanwhile, US retail giant Amazon is also gearing up launch its own smartphone and the specifications has been leaked for some time now.
