NTT Docomo unveils 12 new devices, to launch VoLTE service in June

NTT Docomo has announced 12 new devices in their summer lineup. The company also announced that it would roll out Japan’s first Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) service beginning late-June. This would require Xi (read “crossy”) network that would offer high-quality voice and video calls also enable user receive Area Mail disaster-information notifications while making VoLTE voice/video calls.

In the summer 2014 lineup there are 6 new devices with VoLTE support that includes, Samsung Galaxy S5 (SC-04F), Sony Xperia Z2 (SO-03F), Sharp Aquous Zeta (SH-04F), Fujitsu Arrows NX F-05F, Sharp Aquos Pad (SH-06F), Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet (SO-05F). Other devices in the line-up includes, Sharp disney mobile on Docomo (SH-05F), Sony Xperia A2 (SO-02F), Fujitsu Rakuraku Smartphone 3 (F-06F), Fujitsu F-07F and Fujitsu SH-07F.

Most of these include the flagship devices such as Galaxy S5, Xperia Z2 and Z2 tablet. One of the main highlight is the Sharp Aquos Pad (SH-06F) with 7-icnh (1200 × 1920 pixels) WUXGA IGZO display with thin bezels, 8.4mm thin frame, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, Android 4.4, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2.1MP front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage with expansion slot and a 4200 mAh battery.

All these smartphones are expected to be launched between this May and August. It would also offer data for VoLTE video calls free till September 2015.
