Xiaomi MiPad with 7.9-inch (2048 × 1536) display, Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC announced

Xiaomi has finally announced MiPad, the company’s first tablet as expected. It has a 7.9-inch (2048 × 1536 pixels) display at 326 ppi, manufactured by Sharp / AUO and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by a 2.2 GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 192-core Kepler GPU and runs on Android-based MiUI ROM optimized for tablets. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with 5-element lens, Sony BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with OmniVision sensor and f/2.0 aperture.

Xiaomi want to compete with iPad Mini with this latest tablet that has a similar Retina display with 4:3 aspect ratio.

The Xiaomi MiPad comes in white, blue, green, yellow and pink colors and is priced at 1499 Chinese Yuan (Rs. 14330 approx. / US$240 approx.) for the 16GB variant. The 64GB variant costs 1699 Chinese Yuan (Rs. 16240 approx. / US$272 approx.) Xiaomi would begin beta testing the tablet in June. No word on the market launch yet.
