Micromax has announced that it has appointed Vineet Taneja as Chief Executive Officer. He previously served as country Head for IT & Mobile businesses of Samsung India before leaving the company few weeks back. He joined Samsung back in March 2013 and had previously served in Bharti Airtel, Nokia India (between January 2008 to April 2010) and Hindustan Lever. He will focus on consolidating Micromax’s strong presence in the market, driving global partnerships and strategic alliances while strengthening the organizational capabilities within Micromax, said the company.
Micromax’s former CEO Deepak Mehrotra had quit the company last year and Rahul Sharma, the company’s Co-founder was managing the company for the past few months.
In a surprising move, Micromax roped in Hugh Jackman as its brand ambassador last year. Recently it started releasing more feature-rich budget smartphones to compete with global players like Motorola that targets India. The company forayed into Russian market earlier this year. Hope it will expand to more countries soon.

Vineet is one of the most respected corporate leaders in the industry and has a great track record of successfully leading diverse brands across sectors. I firmly believe that he will be a strong partner in our vision to be India’s first technology brand to leave an imprint at the global level. We look forward to working closely with Vineet and support him in this new journey.
