Dropbox has scooped up instant messaging startup Droptalk for an undisclosed sum. The startup enables users to send links privately via Chrome extensions along with and chats. Droptalk which was also working on Android and iOS app will shut down as a result of the acquisition and will not accepting new signups.
With Droptalk all your communications happened in the browser, tablet or phone, eliminating the need for emails. What’s more is anytime you updated your shared folders in the cloud, everyone else in the conversation could see the updated version and go directly to the document or link right in the very same thread. posted Droptalk on company website.
Earlier in the year Dropbox had acquired Zulip which provides workplace chat solutions. The cloud storage company had also acquired Loom, Hackpad and Bubbli startup recently.
