Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 Hands On and Photo Gallery

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S series at an event in New York. We got some hands on time with the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 at the event. The tablet has a stunning 8.4-inch (2560×1600 pixel) WQXGA Super AMOLED display at a pixel density of 359 ppi. The display is sharp and it offers 90% of Adobe RGB color coverage for accurate color output.It comes in Octa-Core Exynos and Snapdragon 800 variants depending on the WiFi and LTE models. It has a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and an ambient light sensor on the top. The 3G or LTE variant would also have an ear piece for voice calling an a proximity sensor. It has Samsung’s signature home button below the display along with menu and back buttons on either sides. There is a fingerprint sensor on the button, similar to the Galaxy S5 for secure biometric screen locking feature and mobile payments.

It has S5-like dotted texture on the back for a comfortable grip. There is a 8-megapixel camera on the back with LED flash.

On the right side there is a power button, volume rocker, Infrared LED and a micro SD card slot. The tablet is just 6.6mm thick.

Over at the top there is a loudspeaker grill and a microphone hole.

The 3.5mm audio jack and the micro USB slot are located on the bottom.

It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Samsung latest Magazine UI on the top.

It has a range connectivity features including, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi Direct and has GPS + GLONASS. It has 3GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB memory variant and a microSD slot that accepts cards up to 128 GB. It has 4900mAh battery.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is priced at US$399.99 (~Rs. 23,700) for the base WiFi variant and would go on sale in the U.S. in July.
