Facebook has revamped its iPad app with various features and focus on games. For starters, the app gets sidebar similar to the web which helps content discovery of games and other entertainment apps.
More than 70 percent of people who use Facebook for iPad worldwide played a Facebook-connected game in the past 90 days. So we’re also dedicating a section of the iPad app to games people play, and over time, we will include ads where game developers can engage players.
said Facebook in a company blog post.
The sidebar will pop-out tabs like ‘My Game’ and ‘Popular Game’ as soon as you turn the tablet in landscape mode. “Popular Games” section will show video trailers for iPad games that are either popular on Facebook generally or among your friends in particular. Facebook will suggest games to users based on their gaming history, the games their friends play, and what’s already popular among the Facebook population at large.
In addition to games, Facebook’s iPad app gets trending topics and trending videos. The former that was introduced for the web in January lists topics people are talking about most on Facebook while the latter includes a personalized selection of the most-shared videos among your demographic on Facebook.
These new features will be available to some Facebook app for iPad users in the US. Earlier today, Facebook also updated Paper with several features.
