Nike+ FuelBand finally gets an Android app

Nike+FuelBand has finally released an Android app for its fitness tracker. The company has expanded its app two years after it debuted the app on iOS devices.

In addition to estimating calorie burn, tracking time of workout, and setting goals, Fuelband awards points for your sweat, which puts you in friendly competition with any of your friends wearing one.Users will be able to use the app to view their NikeFuel ratings in real time, view the progress towards their goals on any given day, week or month and set move reminders using their device. The app allows specific activities to be tracked during the Nike+ Sessions functionality and compete with friends on a leaderboard.

The free app is compatible with Android version 4.3 and above and is currently available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany and Japan from the Play Store now. Devices like Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, S3, Nexus 5, HTC One, and Moto X are currently supported to the Android app.

In April, Nike dismissed rumors about shutting down the FuelBand division. Meanwhile, more players are entering the fitness health wearable market. Google is reportedly preparing to launch Google Play Fitness which is similar to Apple’s recently announced Healthkit and Health app.
