Google releases stock Email app on Play Store

Google Email for Android

Google has finally released its stock Email app on the Google Play Store. This app comes pre-installed on Nexus and select Google Play edition devices, so it would be easy for Google to update the app with new features. According to the app store description, the update is not available for Google Play edition HTC One M7 and Galaxy S4 yet.
If you don’t know, the app supports, IMAP, POP3 and Exchange accounts, option to select folders to sync, auto download attachments via Wi-Fi and more. The latest v6.3 update adds better security for Gmail accounts, easy account setup, printing and also some bug fixes.

Google’s Gmail app already comes pre-installed on all devices approved for Google Mobile Services, the Email app lets you set up other email accounts such as Yahoo, Outlook etc. easily instead of relying on separate apps. Google is doing a great job in releasing apps directly to the Play Store. The company released Google Camera app on Google Play back in April.

Looks like the Google Email app is compatible only with Nexus and select Google Play Edition devices for now.
