Xiaomi reportedly partners with Flipkart to launch two smartphones in India in July

Xiaomi would partner with online retailer Flipkart to launch its smartphones in India, according to a report from BGR India. The company is selling its smartphones in other countries through its own online stores. Motorola tied up with Flipkart to sell the Moto G and Moto E in India. Flipkart imported the Motorola devices, but Xiaomi will import the smartphones and Flipkart would sell them, according to the report.

It confirmed India entry back in April and Xiaomi India website went live last week. Earlier this month Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra announced that the company has hired Manu Kumar Jain, Co-founder of Jabong as Xiaomi India’s GM. According to the report Xiaomi would launch the Redmi, the company’s first budget device and the Mi3, its latest flagship smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display at 312 PPI, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 Turbo processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and runs on Android 4.2-based MIUI V5 ROM. It has 8MP rear camera with 1080p video recording, 1.3MP front-facing camera with 720p video recording, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory with expansion slot and a 2000 mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Mi3 has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM 8974AB) processor with Adreno 330 GPU and runs on Android 4.3-based MIUI V5 ROM. It has a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, 1080p video recording and a 2MP front-facing camera. It has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and a 3050 mAh battery.

According to the report these smartphones would launch between mid-July and early-August and also plans to launch its Mi Power Bank, a 10,400mAh portable battery pack in India. We already unboxed both these smartphones. Check out the unboxing of Xiaomi Redmi and Xiaomi Mi3.
