Sony Xperia M2 Aqua emerges at FCC

Sony is planning to launch Xperia M2 Aqua according to a latest FCC documents. The model number of the device is PM-0770 and PM-0771 and they are apparently two variants of the smartphone.


XML file on Sony’s website revealing both smartphones’ name – Sony Xperia M2 Aqua and that the devices are water resistant. Sony first announced the Xperia M2 and M2 dual in February at the MWC 2014. However, both these smartphones are not water resistant.

Similar to the Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua is believed to have 4.8 inch display and the quad core Snapdragon 400 chipset. Both models have Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, ANT+, NFC, and GPS connectivity along with FM radio.The PM-0770, however, will play nice with LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 20, whereas the PM-0771 is compatible with just bands 2, 4, 7, and 17.

The two variants of the M2 Aqua have passes FCC recently. Since this is merely an FCC listing at the moment, there’s no word on when the smartphone will be announced. But an FCC listing usually indicates that a launch is possible.
