Japan Display Inc (JDI) has announced that it has commenced mass production of IPS-NEO panels for mobile products. IPS-NEO panels are characterized by higher contrast displays and consistent color reproduction through wide viewing angles.
JDI claims that the photo alignment method uses highly transmissive liquid crystal, traditionally regarded as difficult to mass produce. That helps increase transmissivity by at least 10% and contributes to reduced power consumption. Other benefits of the panels include improved yields and lower power consumption.
The leading global supplier of small- and medium-sized displays did not announce when will these displays hit the market but stated that it will be “steadily introducing and expanding it to other lines”.
