Soon after updating its iPhone app for Maps, Google has added several features for Maps on Android. The version 8.2 gets brings voice controls for vehicle navigation. This will be helpful for users while driving as they can ask several questions like – how is the traffic, how much time for the destination and so on.
In order to access this feature, users will see a small microphone button in the bottom left corner of the interface, from which they can tap and then give commands to the phone with. This will help users with better hands free driving. Moreover, another important addition to Maps is bike routes and directions. The Maps now offer elevation info for bicyclists to help avoid unnecessary uphill climbs when necessary. Users can also compare different navigation routes based on their elevation which makes it easy for cyclists to pick the easiest route based on their current elevation.
Finally, Google has added another tweaks to the Maps interface as a new voice icon is now visible in place of the “person” that used to appear in the search bar. The update will be available in the Play Store in coming days.
