64GB variant of the Xiaomi MiPad launched in China

Xiaomi, a name that is becoming increasingly popular in India, launched the 64GB version of their first tablet, i.e., the Xiaomi Mi Pad in their home country of China.

The device not only is the first Xiaomi tablet, but is also the first to employ the NVIDIA Tegra K1 SoC. With a design that’s strikingly similar to the iPad mini, the Mipad comes with the same 7.9-inch display and 2048 x 1536 pixel ‘retina’ display as the second gen iPad mini.

A 16GB variant of the device was previously available for 1499 CNY or $241, while the 64GB version that launched today is priced at 1699 CNY or $273, which according to us makes for quite a better deal than the former. However, those that don’t mind storage that isn’t the fastest can go for the cheaper 16GB version, since both variants come with microSD support for storage expansion.
