Moto X can now be unlocked with digital tattoos

Motorola has introduced a new method to unlock your MotoX. The company has launched a digital tatoo that a Moto X user needs to place on the wrist of the hand.

“A phone should be as unique as you are—not only in the design of your device, but how you use it. Last year at the All Things D “D11” conference, Regina Dugan talked about new digital tattoo technology that would make it easier to unlock your phone. Now the moment is here: We’re excited to see this new technology brought to life for Moto X by Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group and VivaLnk Inc.”

said Motorola in a company blog post.

The NFC-powered digital tattoos will enable users to unlock the phone and save them from remembering pin codes and lock patterns. Motorola has teamed up with VivaLnk to give you a temporary tattoo that will last on your body for as much as five days. Users will simply have to tap their Moto X against the digital tattoo to unlock it. Motorola says that people unlock their handsets around 39 times per day.

This is not the first time Motorola has launched a mobile accessory. Last year Motorola launched Skip, a mobile accessory for unlocking the Moto X. Motorola and VivaLnk’s digital tattoos can be purchased directly from the VivaLnk website at a price of $10 for a pack of 10.
