As expected, Xiaomi continued their flash sale marketing with their first sale in India on 22nd July. This came after a week of registrations, when over a lakh Indians registered to be eligible to buy the device when it goes on sale. With a VFM proposition as lucrative as the Xiaomi Mi3’s it wasn’t surprising that the device got sold out in under 40 minutes of going on sale.
All of this made for a pretty headline, and as you’d expect from Xiaomi — who now know the tricks of the trade inside out — the news was shared across their social media accounts soon after. However, neither Xiaomi nor Flipkart gave a figure as to how many devices they actually sold in the 38 minutes and 50 seconds.
According to BGR India, citing ‘sources privy to the information’, the number of devices on sale was under 10,000. Although this in no manner is bad business for considering the time duration of 40 minutes, but given that over a lakh hopefuls participated in the registration activity, one would’ve expected the Xiaomi-Flipkart duo to roll out a bit more (read: a few thousand more) devices for sale.

Not all’s lost for Mi3 hopefuls, though. The device is all set to go on sale 29th July, and those who did register for the 22 July sale but were unable to purchase, there’s no need to register again.
