Google is adding a new feature to its mobile apps on Android and iPhone that will let users discover new places. Dubbed as ‘Explore’ the feature offers users about important and happening places nearby their destination.
Google Maps will display an Explore button at the bottom right of the map when points of interests are available in locations. Explore can also help you find potential nearby locations by distance as well. Once you get there, you can tap your location on the map and get details like restaurant reviews and transit schedules.
It will also suggest you places based on your time of day searching, as well as some other key elements, to populate a list with the places you’re most likely to actually visit. This means for example at 8 a.m., Google Maps will show information about nearby coffee shops or breakfast cafes, while at 10 p.m. The new feature will even change the search results based on the weather conditions. Google said that you will get best results by signing in with location reporting and history turned on.
Google Maps for Android recently got updated with bike elevations and voice commands.
