Obi Mobiles, based in Gurgaon announced the launch of India operations back in April. The company is promoted by Inflexionpoint, popular IT supply chain company co-founded by John Sculley, Ex CEO of Apple. The Obi Octopus S520 that was launched earlier this month is the company’s first smartphone. Priced at Rs. 11,990, it is one of the cheapest smartphones powered by a Octa-Core MediaTek processor in India. Check out the unboxing below.

The Octopus S520 has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display. It has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, above the earpiece and comes with the usual set of capacitive touch buttons below the display. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). The smartphone is 8.4 mm thick.
It has a aluminium back cover that is a bit tricky to remove since it uses a slider mechanism. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Under the back cover, there are dual SIM card slots (Standard + Micro), microSD card slot and a 1800mAh removable battery.
There is a large obi logo on the metal back panel. The loudspeaker grill is present below that, on a plastic surface. The phone packs 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage with expansion slot. We will be bringing you more details about the smartphone soon.
