Bioshock 1 headed to the iPhone and iPad later this year

Mobile gamers all around have a lot to look forward to later this year. 2K Games, the studio behind the hit franchise, BioShock, today announced that the first game in the franchise will be making its way over to the iOS platform. The company says that BioShock on the iPhone and iPad will be a premium game and hence will carry a price tag that will be anywhere from $10 to $30.

The studio has managed to port the entire game without cutting corners on the essentials. Lighting, shadows have taken a hit and the textures are not as high resolution as on PC or consoles. As Engadget reports, fire effects in particular are poor to look at. Given the medium, the game loses the grandeur of the original and it really is best placed with a controller in hand. That said, you can still play the game using a controller on the iPad. While there is no word on pricing, we do know that the game will not run on older iOS devices. You’ll need an iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4 or the iPhone 5/5c or 5s to be able to play it. The game will also not include any of the DLC content released for it.
