First batch of $13 Xiaomi Mi Bands to go on sale 18th August in China

Xiaomi’s ever-so-affordable Mi Band is finally going to go on sale, albeit only in its home country of China.

The $13 piece of wearable tech will go on sale in China on 18th of August, alongside another affordable gadget – the Xiaomi Router. While the Mi Band will sell for 79 CNY ($13), the Mi Router will be available for 129 CNY or $129 for residents of China.

The Mi Band was announced alongside the latest Xiaomi flagship, the Mi 4 on July 22nd. Incidentally, that’s when the Mi 3 first went on sale in India as well.

Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra did give an India timeline for other Xiaomi products, but it isn’t yet clear when the Mi Band would be available in the country. Given that an announcement for Redmi products is already due, we could be in for a surprise.

Can’t say about the Mi Router, but the Mi Band for certain is going to be a hit in markets outside of China; you can’t, after all, go wrong with a $13 wearable!
