It hasn’t been long since Xiaomi announced the affordable Redmi 1S for India, but the fast rising Chinese company has announced the device for another market — Indonesia.
Xiaomi took the aggressive route when it came to pricing in India, and announced it for only 5,999 INR or roughly $99. However, Indonesians will have to pay IDR 1.5 million or roughly $128 to be able to take home the Redmi 1S. Although it isn’t India-cheap, the $128 equivalent price tag is a good $8 cheaper than the Redmi 1S’s price for Singapore.

Xiaomi has been able to win a lot of fans in India with its highly competitive pricing. In fact, I feel that Xiaomi is actually selling its devices at a loss in India in order to build a strong goodwill for its name. Considering it isn’t selling too many devices, that’s really a possibility.
