3D Maps shown off on Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Ericsson Labs has some news about a new 3D Landscape API. There is a video demo of the API in action on a Xperia X10. The 3D Maps are rendered pretty fast

3D Landscape provides three different APIs for developers to use and display high quality 3D maps in web services or mobile applications. The 3D Landscape SDK consists of both a Java ME and an Android library that you can download and use to create your own innovative map applications. The maps for the SDKs are downloaded from a backend server and buffered in the mobile as needed

3D Landscape Features

  • Realistic maps in 3D
  • Free access to map data
  • Advanced rendering engine
  • Simple API

Below is a video of the 3D Maps in Action. Gotta love the speed of SnapDragon CPUs
