New Moto G Hands On

The first Moto G flagged off the successful return of Motorola, in India. Flipkart, that has fuelled this run for Motorola phones has already sold 1.6 Million phones from the brand. Motorola has announced entry of 2 new phones and 1 smartwatch, before the festive season begins, in India. On sale already, Moto G (second gen) is available only in 16GB variant at price 12,999 INR. Moto X and Motorola smart watch, Moto 360 will be available for purchase, online, by end of September 2014.

We have already shown you, our first hands-on take of Moto X (second Gen). Here’s a quick look at Moto G, Dual SIM 16 GB variant.

Moto G looks nearly identical to its older sibling. Specs of course, differ. Sporting a 5 inch display, (with 720p HD 720×1280 IPS,  294 ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 3) Moto G could qualify as a big screen phone for nearly every hand type.

Both power and volume buttons are on same side. Moto G has two speakers placed in the front side. One on top and the other at the bottom.

The second generation Moto G comes with 16 GB inbuilt memory but allows to expand memory with up to 32 GB memory card. It has a detachable back cover that will accommodate 2 SIMcards and a memory card and a 2070mAh battery. Primary material used on new Moto G is plastic unlike Moto X that uses a leathery material and looks fab, feels fab. Both cater to different price segments.

Moto G will be available in White and Black colours.

Moto X has a prettier hardware and slimmer curve than the Moto G. Moto G second generation measures 70.7mm in width with height 141.5mm and a curve 6.0-11.0 mm.

There isn’t much happening on the spines, since the SIM slots are placed behind cover. Bottom side has the USB slot.

Top side has a 3.5 mm jack.

Back side camera is an 8 MP snapper with single LED flash. Front camera can take up to 2MP pics and 720p videos.

The new Moto G runs has 1GB RAM with latest Android 4.4.4. It is powered by Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, Adreno 305 450MHz GPU.
