The tablet is encompassed in a solid case which makes it a bit bulky but gives it a rugged exterior. It has a touch if metal accents at four corners of and around the camera lens at the back. Galaxy Tab S has a 3.1MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash.
It has a 8.0-inch (1280 x 800 pixel) WXGA display screen and is powered by1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage with a microSD expansions slot. At the front of the Tab Active we have 1.2MP front-facing camera. The display on the tablet is quiet standard with decent viewing angles and brightness and contrast ratio. However, we felt that the display is reflective and might be difficult for work in sunlight.
The entire tablet is encased by a thick band of rubber with outsets at the corners to provide extra protection against falls and drops. A 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port are situated at the bottom of the tablet.
As the tablet is aimed at business users, it has POGO pin charging on the left side .
The volume rockers and the power button are placed on the right side of the tablet.
The loud speaker grill is seen at the back.
The back cover of the Tab Active can be removed and it also has a 4,450mAh removable battery.
The front of the tablet has three physical buttons for Home, back and multi tasking. It runs on Android KitKat 4.4 and also has Samsung’a Touch Wiz technology. It also comes with a C-Pen stylus at the top of the protective Galaxy Tab Active cover for an alternative input. The Galaxy Tab Active comes in two connectivity options: Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 4G LTE using a SIM.
