Google turned 16 over the weekend on September 27th. The tech behemoth celebrated its birthday with a cake that has lollipops instead of candles on top of it thereby hinting that the next Android OS might be dubbed as ‘Android Lollipop’.
Google has been naming its operating systems alphabetically after various sweets and until now we have seen cupcake, donut, éclair, froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb, ice cream sandwich, jelly bean and offcourse latest KitKat. The company announced Android L developer preview at its I/O developer conference in June. The ‘L’ is supposed to be a short form of Lollipop however, last month Android Lemon Meringue Pie was spotted in Chromium issue tracker.
In the above image we can see the cake(pie) and lollipops so the ‘L’ can be for the former or the latter. It must be noted that Google has been tight lipped about the name of its next OS and it is not sure what will the company finally name it.
