LG is working on its next smartwatch that will support 3G connectivity. The smartwatch under the build number LG VC100 has been spotted at FCC.
The device is listed as Smart Watch with CDMA’ suggesting that it will not require a tethering to a smartphone for a data connection. It is not clear if the watch will run on Android Wear. As per the listing, the smartwatch measures 57.7 x 35.5 which is smaller than Samsung Gear S which measure 58.3 x 39.8 mm. It will also feature a 3G radio, said the filing. As the watch comes with 3G capabilities, it looks like it will make and receive calls, send SMS, email, download apps and more.
Unfortunately, the filing does not give away any of the features and specs of the watch but the device’s model number suggests it could make its way to Verizon or Sprint in a CDMA variant. Samsung rolled out Gear S smartwatch last month that also supports 3G.
