Facebook is re-introducing Atlas, its ad platform that will allow Facebook partners to target ads at users on and off its website. The social network had bought the ad platform from Microsoft last year.
Facebook’s targeting data will now be available to advertisers that aren’t advertising just on Facebook, but are also using its advertising platform Atlas. Atlas can help marketers track the effectiveness of their ads around the Web; it also says it will allow them to buy ads on non-Facebook websites and apps, using Facebook targeting data.
“Today, we are announcing the launch of Atlas. We’ve rebuilt Atlas from the ground up to tackle today’s marketing challenges, like reaching people across devices and bridging the gap between online impressions and offline purchases.”
said Facebook/Atlas in a company blog post.
The technology, called “people-based marketing,” is the main feature of Facebook’s revamped Atlas ad server .Omnicom Group, one of the world’s largest advertising companies, is the first to sign up for Atlas.
