Samsung has launched the Gear S running Tizen-based wearable OS. It was unveiled back in August and has a built-in SIM card slot that lets you independently make and receive calls, without connecting to a device and also offers 3G support. You can also get calls forwarded from your smartphone if it’s connected. It has a 2-inch (360 x 480 pixels) curved Super AMOLED display, larger than the Gear 2 and has a more powerful 1GHz dual-core processor.
It has IP67 certification for dust and water resistant and connects to the devices using Bluetooth 4.1 LE. It doesn’t have an Ir LED, but comes with a Heart Rate sensor to monitor your heart rate easily. It packs a 300mAh Li-ion battery that promises up to 2 days of battery life. We went hands-on with the Gear S at the IFA last month, check out the video and the photo gallery.
