Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will reportedly launch today

Several reports and videos are suggesting that Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are wildly expected to be announced on October 15th. Now, a fresh report from the Forbes is claiming that Google will announce the Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet on a company blog today.

Google Motorola Nexus 6 leak

The report claims that it has received a tip from the ‘source close to Google’. We already know that the upcoming Nexus 6 smartphone will be Motorola made and is codenamed as ‘Shamu’ while the Nexus  9 tablet will be HTC made and is codenamed as ‘Volantis’. Moving on, the report stated that Google had planned a special event for the Nexus 9 tablet but was cancelled on the grounds that ‘Android L needed some tweaking’. Hence, the company is expected to announce both the flagship devices via company blog post.

HTC Nexus 9 leak

Giving further insights on the Nexus 9 tablet, the report said that it will be available for pre-order on the 17th October and available to purchase on the 3rd November. The tablet is said to be priced at $399 for the 16GB model, while a 32GB version with 4G LTE connectivity will reportedly cost $499. Both will sport microSD card slots for storage expansion.

It also confirmed the specs of the Nexus 9 which are similar to what we have heard until now. The tablet will feature an 8.9-inch 2048×1440 display, NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, 3-megapixel front-facing cam, front-facing speakers and 2GB of RAM. There is also mention of a brushed aluminium frame, rather than a solid metal design. Finally, an ‘origami’ magnetic case for the Nexus 9 will be announced too, said the report.

The report doesn’t say when the Nexus 6 will be released but its pre-orders are expected to start after the announcement. It may have a 6-inch display with Quad HD resolution, a Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13 megapixel rear camera and a 3,200mAh battery. A press image of the Nexus 6 surfaced on the AT&T website earlier today.
