Lenovo announced plans to purchase Motorola Mobility from Google in January this year. Now, the company is planning to bring a Motorola tablet in the markets.
According to a report from Taiwan, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanquing has said that the company will build a new Motorola tablet after completing the acquisition by the end of this year. The report states that Lenovo will use a “dual-brand” system in which the tablet will boast either the Motorola or Lenovo name depending on the location where the tablet is being released. Lenovo plans on employing the same branding scheme for Motorola smartphones.
Motorola has failed to make its mark in the tablet market as its Xoom and the Xyboard tablets in 2011 did not garner good reviews. But it looks like Lenovo wants to stir the tablet market with Motorola entry as it has become quiet popular thanks to its latest line of smartphones. Unfortunately, the report does not provide any details about the tablet.
It will be interesting to see how Lenovo will position Motorola in the current competitive tablet market.
