Google tests Material Design for Mobile web search

Google has already started loading its various apps with new elements and features of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Today, the company is testing Material Design for mobile web search.

Some of the users are seeing changes in mobile web search via Chrome for Android. The search has been integrated with a refreshed UI and new set of animations. Screenshots showing these changes had appeared on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk which is a testing ground for various tasks. The mobile search is also getting smoother interactions as per the screenshots.

It must be noted that these are mere mock-ups and not a full fledged functional search. The search puts more emphasis on card based display with larger images. Google has already updated Play Store and Play Music with all the elements and animations from Material Design. It must be noted that these are just the mock ups and the UI and general look of the mobile search is subject to change.
