Google has supported free phone calls to the U.S. and Canada through Hangouts for over a month. Today, the company is offering free one minute calls for 25 other countries including India. The initiative that is limited till end of 2014 will offer first minute of any international call free for the listed 25 countries.
“For the rest of 2014, the first minute of most calls to 25 countries are free, and you’ll be charged for each minute after. Calls where the first minute are free will say, “First minute free” on the call screen. If you don’t see this message, you’ll be charged for the first minute.”

In order to make phone calls, users will need to have the latest version of Hangout apps. In addition, they will need to download the Hangouts dialer that turns on calling feature in Hangouts app. Calls that are eligible for the free minute will display “first minute free” on the call screen.
Google also noted that the offer is subject to abuse limits, so if you’re making a lot of calls every day, some of those calls may not be eligible for the offer.
