Google takes submissions for Android TV apps on Play Store

Developers can now publish apps for Android TV on the Google Play Store. Google has published some guidelines for developing apps for Android TV, which can be found on the Android Developer Blog.

Today Nexus Player and Nexus 9 went on sale on the Google Play Store. Along with publishing apps exclusively for Android TV onto the Play Store, developers can also extend their existing apps for TV and publish them. Google said that apps must meet certain requirements in order to get published. You can get all the information about the requirements in the publishing documents provided by Google. It also guides developers about standards for developing Android TV apps.

“We want to offer the best possible experience for users to enjoy your apps and games. To make this possible, your Android TV app must meet the basic requirements for usability. When your app meets these requirements, users will be able to discover and download it directly on their Android TV devices.”
