Android KitKat 4.4 is now running on 30% of all Android device, as per latest numbers from Android developer dashboard. The numbers for KitKat is up from 24.5% in September.
KitKat 4.4 is the only version of the operating system to face an increase this month, with an increase of 5.7%, now weighing in at 30.2% of the total market share. The KitKat share was 17.9% in July and 20.9% in August. Jelly Bean sits at 50.9%, which is slightly down from last month’s 53.8%. Ice Cream Sandwich is also on the decline, falling to 8.5% from 9.6%, and Gingerbread now sits at 9.8% down from 11.4%.
Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop will hit the chart next month as it is available starting from today. The Android distribution numbers do not include information for devices running a version of the operating system lower than 2.2, as they do not support the latest Google Play Store app.
