The Desire 820 has the same 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with HTC Sense 6 UI on top, but this is powered by a octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor ( four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz) with Adreno 405 GPU, compared to the Snapdragon 400 SoC on the Desire 816. HTC has also launched the Desire 820q smartphone which has a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor Snapdragon 410 processor. It has dual-front-facing BoomSound speakers and 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Desire 820 has dual color finish that offers a hint of blue around the camera, LED flash and the sides. There is a 13-megapixel rear camera, similar to the 816.
It has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and expandable memory up to 128GB with microSD. Since this is the dual SIM variant, there are two nano SIM slots. Under the back cover there is a 2600 mAh battery.
This particular color of the 820 has glossy back, similar to the Desire 816, but the white color looks more attractive, mainly due to the dual colors. It also comes in Tuxedo Grey color that offers matte finish. Other glossy back color variants include, Marble White, Milky-way Grey , Tangerine White, Saffron Grey, Flamingo Grey, Blue Mist and Monarch Orange.
