ITC Agrees to Probe Apple on Nokia’s request

Straight from Reuters – The ITC has started investigation against iPhone maker Apple based on the request from Nokia , the world largest producer of mobile phones.Nokia had made a request to the ITC on Dec 29th 2009 and the US Trade body has started an investigation on Feb 1st 2010 to find out if Apple Inc is guilty of violating  Nokia’s patents.

The investigation can take up to 15 months . The ITC  has the authority to ban selling of products within USA where more than 50% of Apple’s sales take place. Ironically , Nokia’s sales are not significant in America. A ban would hurt Apple the most !
