Samsung announced the Galaxy Mega 2, its latest Galaxy Mega series smartphone in September. The 6-inch phablet then went on sale in India last month for Rs 20,900. We have already seen the unboxing, photo gallery and benchmarks of the Mega 2. Now lets compare the Galaxy Mega 2 with OnePlus One that we have already reviewed and is expected to launch in India soon.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has a 6-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display while the OnePlus One sports a 5.5-inch (1920 ×1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection. The former measures 8.6mm thick and weighs 196 grams while the latter measures 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs 162 grams.
Both the devices sport a 5MP front facing camera.
Galaxy Mega 2 has trademark Samsung’s physical home button and two capacitive touch buttons and the OnePlus One has no physical button, and have three capacitive buttons.
The Mega 2 has a back cover with leather-like finish and the loudspeaker grill is seen at the lower end of the phone. In case of OnePlus One, the non-removable back cover offers rugged feel.
The rear camera on the Galaxy Mega 2 is 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and the One has 13MP rear camera with Dual LED Flash and 4K video recording.
Both the phones have the power button on the right side. However, the Mega 2 has a chrome finish on the sides of the phone while the OnePlus One has a small chrome strip.
Mega 2 has volume rockers on the left side while the One has volume rockers along with a SIM card slot.
Both the devices have 3.5mm audio jack and the secondary microphone on the top.
The Mega 2 has a microUSB port at the bottom while the One has micro USB port, loudspeaker grill and a microphone.
The Mega 2 comes with a removable back cover. The battery on Mega 2 is 2800mAh and that on the OnePlus One is 3100mAh.
The Mega 2 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has a 1.5 GB RAM, 8GB Internal Memory, expandable memory up to 64GB with micro SD. The OnePlus One on the other hand runs CyanogenMod 11S on top of Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has 3GB RAM and comes in 16GB or 64GB variants.
The Mega 2 comes in Brown, Black and White colors and is priced at Rs. 20,900, while the OnePlus One comes in Silk White and Sandstone Black version. Where the 16GB version is priced at $299 and the 64GB version costs $349.
