Samsung announced the Galaxy Mega 2, its latest Galaxy Mega series smartphone in September. The 6-inch phablet thenwent on salein India last month for Rs 20,900. We have already seen the unboxingphoto gallery and benchmarks of the Mega 2. Now lets compare the Galaxy Mega 2 with HTC Desire 816.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has a 6-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display while the Desire 816 has 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display.The former device is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and the latter is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. Mega 2 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has a 1.5 GB RAM, 8GB Internal Memory, expandable memory up to 64GB with micro SD while, the HTC Desire 816 also runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with HTC Sense 5.5 UI on the top. It has 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, expandable memory with micro SD. Front facing camera on both the devices is 5MP however, Desire 816 also supports 720p HD recording.
The Mega 2 has trademark Samsung’s physical home button and two capacitive touch buttons on either side and Desire 816 has on-screen buttons and HTC branding on the bezel, below the display along with dual front speakers with built-in amplifiers and HTC BoomSound capabilities.
The Mega 2 has back cover with leather-like finish and the loudspeaker grill is seen at the lower end of the phone. In case of Desire 816 it has glossy finish on the back and have unibody construction. Rear camera on Mega 2 is 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and the Desire 826 has 13MP rear camera with LED Flash,f/2.2, 1080p HD recording.
The Mega 2 has a removable back cover along with 2800mAh battery while HTC’s back cover is not removable and inside it has a 2600mAh battery.
The power button on Mega 2 is on the right side while the Desire 816 has two nano SIM slots and a microSD card slot on the right side.
Mega has the micro USB port at the bottom in the center as do the Desire 816 but instead of center it is shifted to the right side.
The Mega 2 has 3.5mm audio jack on the top with secondary microphone so does the HTC Desire 816.
The Mega 2 has volume rockers on the left side while Desire 816 has volume rockers and power button on the left side. The former measures 8.6mm thick and weighs 196 grams and the latter is 7.99mm-thick and weighs 165 grams.
The Mega 2 comes in Brown, Black and White colors and the HTC Desire 816 is available in Black, White, Red, Green and Purple colors.
