Google Search for Android gets Material Design and new features

After updating series of its core apps with Material Design, Google is now updating Search for Android. The Search app for Android is getting an array of new features and a revamped look.

As expected the Search gets bold colors and smoother animations which are the basic elements of Material Design. Google Now cards are also getting a tweak with new sidebar, back arrow and bright colors. Moving on, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users also benefit from being able to activate “Ok, Google” searches even when the smartphone is unplugged and the display is off.

Google Search can now integrate much more powerfully with third-party apps. This means users can directly ask “OK Google search Tumblr for..The Search app now scans through your Gmail inbox and locate any forgotten appointments and events. It will then display them as reminders in your calendar, so you don’t forget any important appointments.

Finally, Google will even help you make a decision by simply asking “OK Google, flip a coin”. The Google Search version 4.0 is hitting to users in phases.
