Samsung Gear S vs Samsung Gear Live Photo Gallery

Samsung announced the Gear S smartwatch in August and it went on sale  in India earlier this month for Rs 27,900. We have already seen the unboxing and the photo gallery of the smartwatch and also went handson with it at IFA Berlin. Now lets compare the smartwatch to Samsung Gear Live that was announced at Google I/O conference in June. It launched in India in July for Rs 15,900.

The Gear S runs on company’s homegrown OS Tizen. It sports a 2 inch (360 x 480 pixels) curved Super AMOLED display and is powered by a 1GHz Dual-Core processor. While the Gear Live runs on Android Wear and has a 1.63 inch touchscreen with a 320×320 resolution and is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor. Both the smartwatches have 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

The Gear S has sensors like Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Ambient Light, UV, Barometer. On the other hand the Gear Live has a heart rate sensor, pedometer, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass. Both the devices are IP67 Certified for dust and water resistance. Both the devices have the heart rate sensor and charging pins below the device. The Gear S comes with a built in SIM Card slot while the Gear Live does not have one.

The Gear S measure 23.4 x 57.4 x 11.95 mm and weighs 27g while the Gear Live is 8.9mm thick  and weighs over 60g. Both the devices have 300mAh battery. In terms of connectivity Gear S supports 3G and Bluetooth 4.1 while the Gear Live supports Bluetooth 4.0.

Gear S has a signature home button below the display and the ambient light sensor is present next to it and has a stainless steel body and blue, black and white changing straps. The Gear Live also comes with a stainless steel body and a usual rubbery strap.
