Google announced the Nexus 9 tablet made by HTC last month. We brought you the hand-on and the photo galley of the Nexus 9 followed by the unboxing. Now let’s compare the Nexus 9 with its predecessor Nexus 7 2013.
The Nexus 9 has a 8.9″ (2048×1536 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 2.3GHz Dual Denver Nvidia Tegra K1 64-bit processor with 192-core Kepler GPU and comes with 2GB of RAM. On the other hand Nexus 7 2013 has a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 and scratch-resistant glass. It is powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor. The Nexus 9 has has a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera along with front facing speakers at the center, while the Nexus 7 2013 has a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.
Both the devices have on screen touch buttons. The Nexus 9 has dual front facing speakers below.
Both the devices have power button and volume rockers on the right side. However, the keys on the Nexus 9 have metal finish while that on the Nexus 7 2013 are made of plastic.
Nexus 9 has a micro USB slot on the bottom and brushed metal finish on the sides for a premium look while the Nexus 7 2013 have the micro USB port at the bottom along with loud speaker grill.
On the top Nexus 9 has the 3.5mm audio jack while the Nexus 7 2013 has the 3.5mm audio jack and loud speaker grill. The Nexus 9 measures 8mm thick and weighs 425g while the Nexus 7 2013 is 8.65mm thick and weighs just 290g.
The back cover on the Nexus 9 has soft matte finish, similar to the Nexus 5. There is a large Nexus branding in the center and a HTC branding on the bottom. While the Nexus 7 2013 has matte finish on the plastic material.
The Nexus 9 has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and the Nexus 7 2013 has 5MP camera without LED flash.
The battery on Nexus 9 is 6,700 mAh battery and that on the Nexus 7 2013 is 3,950 mAh.
Nexus 9 ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop and the Nexus 7 2013 has recently received the Lollipop update. The Nexus 9 is priced at Rs. 28,900 for the 16GB WiFi variant and Rs.44,900 for the 32GB LTE variant in India and comes in Black color, while the Nexus 7 2013 was launched at Rs. 20,999 for the 16GB variant.
