Google is preparing to shut down Glass Basecamps stores that were set up to help prospective Google Glass buyers. The company is closing down the three stores in San Francisco, Los Angles and New York.
Google is no longer taking new appointments at any of three aforementioned stores. Glass Basecamps were a hub and allows Explorers to learn more about their device or get other technical support. It allowed Google to directly interact with Glass users and keep in touch with them.
Google started selling Google Glass via Play Store in September after the wearable device was available via beta program earlier in May. The company has also been adding new options for frames, shades and other accessories in recent months. The Basecamps were started for a temporary time and were bound to shut down sometime. Hence, the move suggests that Google is positioning Glass as a standalone product that is ready for sale via Play Store.
