Gionee launched the Elife S5.1, the company’s thinnest smartphone in India earlier this week at a price tag of Rs. 18,999. This even holds a Guinness record for the world’s slimmest smartphone, but it is now dethroned by the Oppo R5 that is just 4.85mm thick. It has a 4.8-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It has 1.8mm bezels on the sides and has a screen-to-body ratio of 74%, making it easy to hold for one-handed usage. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and runs on Android 4.4.2 with Amigo 2.0 UI on top.
It has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens.
There are capacitive touch buttons below the display.
The micro SIM slot is present on the right side. You have to use the SIM ejector tool to remove the slot. It has 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, but lacks a micro SD card slot.
The power button and volume rockers are present on the left side. It has is just 5.1mm thin and has a magnesium alloy frame and has gold finish on the sides.
It has micro USB slot on the bottom along with a primary microphone. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack, unlike the 4.85mm Oppo R5 smartphone that uses a micro USB to 3.5mm converter.
The back has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the back cover it has a 2100mAh battery. It weighs just 100 grams.
It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. There is a secondary microphone hole is also present on the back.
The loudspeaker grill is present on the bottom part of the back.
It has DTS surround sound support for an enhanced audio experience. It has the usual set of connectivity features and even has USB OTG support.
