Apple launched the iPhone 6 Plus, the company’s first large screen smartphone in October. We have already seen the unboxing, photo gallery, benchmarks, battery test and review of the iPhone 6 Plus. Now let’s compare the iPhone 6 Plus with Sony Xperia Z Ultra that was launched last year in June.
The iPhone 6 Plus sports a 5.5 inch Retina HD display screen (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is powered by a new Apple A8 processor. The Xperia Z Ultrasports a 6.4 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with X-Reality engine and is powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. The iPhone 6 Plus runs on iOS 8 while the Z Ultra was launched with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean but was updated this year to Android 4.4 KitKat. The iPhone 6 Plus has a 1.2MP front facing FaceTime camera with 720p HD video recording and Z Ultra has a 2MP front facing camera with 1080p video recording.
The iPhone 6 Plus has the trademark physical home button along with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The Xperia Z Ultra has on-screen touch buttons.
iPhone 6 Plus has an aluminium unibody design and have curved edges and the Apple logo is situated at the middle of the phone. While the Z Ultra has a glass like finish at the back and the Sony branding at the center.
The iPhone 6 Plus has a 8MP rear iSight camera that can shoot Slo-Mo videos at 120 fps or 240fps and supports OIS. The Xperia Z Ultra also has 8MP camera with Exmos RS sensor, HDR photos & videos, 1080p video recording.
At the back the iPhone has a branding below while the Z Ultra has Xperia branding. The battery on the iPhone 6 Plus offers 24 hours of 3G talk time and up to 384 hours of standby while the Z Ultra has a 3050mAh battery.
On the right side the iPhone 6 Plus has the power button and SIM card slot while the Z Ultra has has 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card and micro SIM card slots are hidden under a flap over on the right side of the handset. Also present is the power button and volume rockers.
Both the devices has no keys on the top. The iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1mm thick and weighs 172g while the Z Ultra is 6.5mm thick and weighs 212 grams.
The iPhone 6 Plus has volume rockers while the rotation lock switch are placed on the left side while the Z Ultra has magnetic dock connector on the left.
The iPhone 6 Plus is available in Silver, Gold, Space Gray colors and in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants for INR 62,500 for the basic 16GB variant, INR 71,500 and INR 80,500 respectively. The Xperia Z Ultra comes in Black, White and Purple colors and it was launched at Rs. 46,990, which is now retailing for under Rs. 20,000.
