Samsung revealed that mobile chief J K Shin will retain his position in spite of falling profits. The company dismissed speculations of dropping the head of its under performing mobile division.
The company’s mobile business head J.K. Shin, the chief of the company’s consumer electronics unit, B.K. Yoon and the current chief executive for the component business, Kwon Oh-hyun, will all maintain their positions. Samsung posted a 50-percent drop in third-quarter net profit, following a 20 percent drop in the previous quarter.
Samsung Group senior vice president Lee June stated that Shin was “a major contributor in Samsung Electronics’ emergence as the top global player in the handsets business” and would be given an opportunity to turn the business around. Samsung will make a separate announcement on other management-level changes some time this week.
