Facebook revamps Slingshot with new features and tools

Facebook has updated Slingshot app with a bunch of new features. The redesigned mobile app of the self destructing messaging app is aimed at providing a cleaner and easier interface.

The version 2.0 of Slinghot app adds the ability for users to view images or videos without having to send a reply first. Prior to this you could send images to friends, who could only view your image by sending an image back. Moving on users can send looping videos and full-screen photos with fewer steps, choose from five filters, add drawings and captions, and even add a reaction shot. The app gets a new “Shots” section which shows all your content for 24 hours before disappearing.

“With Slingshot we originally set out to create a place where you could share real, raw moments with your friends. Since we released the first version we have been listening to all of the great feedback from our community and have been cranking away at a big update that we’re super excited to release today.”

posted Slingshot in a company blog post.

Launched in June this year, Slingshot is touted as a Snapchat competitor. The app which has failed to gain traction was last updated in August with a Reactions feature.
