Google Chromecast priced at Rs. 2,999 in India, Exclusive to Snapdeal

The Google Chromecast is one of the most interesting media streaming devices out there. Priced internationally at just $35, it has given stiff competition to higher priced streaming devices by delivering a lot of the capabilities for a much lower price point. Now, Google is finally bringing the product to India as part of its annual Great Online Shopping Festival.

The Chromecast has been available for almost an year now and we’re surprised that the company took this long to launch the product in India. The discrete devices connects directly to your television’s HDMI port and draws power over USB. You can then stream content from online partners directly to your television and can also playback local content from your Android devices. It comes with Google apps like YouTube and Google Play Movies, as well as apps from partners like Spuul,  YuppTV and Eros Now for on-demand Bollywood and regional movies, as well as music, and TV shows on-demand.

To celebrate the launch, Airtel and Eros are offering Chromecast customers a range of subscription and content bundling options. Airtel offers 20 GB data per month (over and above the current plan quota) for 3 months for broadband customers. It also comes with 2 months Eros subscription for free.

Google has priced the Chromecast at a competitive Rs. 2,999. This makes it cheaper than most alternatives available in India. Launched at the Great Online Shopping Festival, the Chromecast will be exclusively sold on Snapdeal and will be available from select Airtel stores across India from December 10. .
