After entering into TV and router business, Xiaomi has launched Mi Air Purifier, the company’s latest product in their home ground, China. The Mi Air Purifier is compact, measuring 735mm x 260mm and weighs about 8 kg (including filters). The main highlight of the Air Purifier is that it can be controlled using an app.
The app lets you see total particulate matter in the air, know the air quality in the home when you are away, check weather forecasts and set the quality depending on outdoor air quality and remind you to switch off the cleaner so that you can get some fresh air from outside. The app will also show the lifetime of the filter and alert you when the filter needs to be replaced and alert you when something is stuck in the purifier or when it’s not working properly. You can also schedule automatic cleaning when you are away.
Coming to the specifications of the Air Purifier, it has 3-layered filter that promises to remove 99.99% of PM2.5 particles and produces about 10,000 liters with Clean Air Delivery Rate of 406m3/h. It has built-in WiFi module 802.11b/g/n that connects to your home WiFi network so that you can access it via app. It consumes a maximum of 75W.
The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier is priced at 899 Chinese Yuan (US$145 / Rs. 9,000 approx). The replacement filters cost 149 Yuan (US$ 24 approx.). It goes on sale in China from 16th December and the company has started registrations. No word on global roll out yet. This will definitely be useful for a country like India. Hope Xiaomi launches it here soon.
