Google Chromecast gets a new guest mode

Google is adding a new guest mode to Chromecast. The popular HDMI media streaming device will now allow users to share their Chromecast without giving the password to a Wi-Fi network.

“To set up guest mode for your Chromecast, open the Chromecast app on your Android phone or tablet and select “Devices” from the navigation drawer. Choose your Chromecast device, tap the “Guest mode” setting and then turn the slider to “on.”

posted Jagjit Chawla, Product Manager and Host Extraordinaire in a blog.

Users will simply have to add a 4 digit PIN to activate the guest mode. Any Android device in the room is ready to “cast” content from any Chromecast-supported app. At present the Guest Mode Google is only available for Android devices running Android 4.3. Google Chromecast was launched in India earlier this week for Rs 2,999 and is exclusively available on Snapdeal.
