Skype offers unlimited free calls to mobiles and landlines in US and Canada for users in India

Skype today announced that Indian users can call any mobile or landline in the US and Canada for free using Skype. To call a number, you just need to open the dial pad in Skype and type the number. This limited period offer is available for both existing and new skype users and is valid till March 1st 2015.

Skype got free group video calling on Windows 8.1 earlier this year. Before going free it was available Premium users could use this service at $9.99 per month. Microsoft has been updating the Skype app for all the platforms regularly to bring new features. Few months back Skype for Android got updated with contact syncing support. Earlier this month Skype for Windows Phone version 2.25 update brought improved chats, bigger emoticons and several new features.

Microsoft released Skype real time translator preview for Windows 8.1 few hours back that translates conversations both ways in real-time and it it is a collaboration between Skype, Bing, Microsoft’s Research Lab. It also displays the text at the bottom of the screen in both the languages.
